Samuel Miller - Mount Everest trek

15/12/2014 19:03

On Wednesday 17th December, Yeovil Town Band percussionist Samuel Miller, will be embarking on an 18 day trek to Mount Everest Base Camp with 17 pupils and 5 members of staff from Kingdown School.  He will leave Warminster early to travel to Heathrow where they will catch a flight to Kathmandu via Istanbul.  From Kathmandu, they will fly up to the tiny airstrip at Lukla and this is where the adventure begins.  Although this is the Everest Base Camp Trek, the goal is the summit of Kala Pattar which is higher than Base Camp at 18192ft.  A Yeovil Band stand banner will be travelling with Samuel as it is hoped to beat the challenge set by The Shepard Group Band on 4Barsrest in April.

The group is also raising money for 3 charities - Louie's S.M.I.L.E.S, Dorothy House Hospice Care and Children's Hospice South West.
